Weekly Report: Focused Effort

Weekly Report: Focused Effort

This week tried hard to make sure I didn’t have any time to write. But look at that, I accomplished it anyway! It’s so pretty. Six stories all finalized. Man. If I had managed to do this much work since April. I’d be so far along. I’d be on another book at this point! Looking at it that way is kind of depressing. But on the other hand, this is the second best week I’ve had this year. Editing at least. So this leaves me with the last seven short stories for the month of April to edit. At this rate, it will be the first week of October before I finish editing everything. Three per week seems to be a good pace. Plus reviewing the others before considering them to be final.

I’m finding that printing out the story and editing them on paper first and then transfer back to the computer a day or so later really helps me. On paper, I can see where I’m going and where I’ve been, and how my thought process was moving as I write down the sides and in between the lines. Then I can wait a day or two before I move the notes back onto the computer where it ends up with another edit round. But! it feels like the same edit round! It’s like editing twice for the price of one!

I finished working on Quantum Express, Runabout Race, and Special Event. I still laughed quite a bit at Special Event. So I must have done something good in there.

This next week the goal is to get through Thunder Gate Arcade (I don’t remember this one at all), Underwater Cavern, and Volcano Vendor. And hopefully do some final edits passes on some of the other ones already edited.

In un-related news, I’ve gone back to volunteering a weekly write-in/meetup/edit thing. It’s nearly two years since I did that last and it’s high time to get back into that swing of things. Mainly because it was so helpful for me to stay on track. I won’t be an ML for NaNoWriMo again this year. But one of these years, I’ll know I’m hanging around for a few years and be able to get back up to ML status again for a region… somewhere.

  • E-publish MacSweeny’s Short stories before November.
  • Get back on Track with Weavers, Book 1.
